Why Model United Nations?
Model UN Conferences enable youth to learn about the significance of the UN, and its many contributions to fostering and maintaining peace, reducing poverty, advancing health of people and nations, and improving world conditions especially through enhancing life on land, below water and in space. A vital aspect of the UN is its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) whose underlying targets are vital to defining 21st Century challenges and catalyzing solutions.
To this end, DIGIVATIONS XGENS has established an Institute and Technology Accelerator, COLLABORATORIUM INNOVATION RESOURCES (CIR), which focuses on attracting the brightest minds to enable solutions to SDG targets. These targets include improving education, eliminating food insecurity, strengthening humans participation in meaningful work in an AI ecosystem, providing access to advanced healthcare, designing and implementing intelligent cities and infrastructure, reducing poverty, and ensuring sustainable futures.
XGENS Model UN participants serve as representatives/delegates from other UN nations’ countries, and learn about significant issues encompassing human rights, global climate change, eliminating chemical weapons, combating cyber terrorism and advancing and protecting women’s rights, among abundantly more pressing issues. In these capacities, as they advocate for their respective nations’ positions serving on different UN organs’ committees including the General Assembly, Economic and Social Council, Security Council, the International Court of Justice and the UN Secretariat, delegates establish friendships with young leaders from throughout the world. Students/delegates also learn about the nuances of international relations through research and writing position papers about their nations’ perspectives leading to resolutions to advance solutions to global challenges.
