KEY ISSUES TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE DELEGATES AT DXCIMUN BROADCAST FROM ITHACA, NY & STANFORD, CA
Apply to Be Considered for a Secretariat Position
Delegates will explore issues focused on climate change & adaptation especially those
regarding resolution of water rights through various treaties which impact sustainability. Resolution of these treaties requires comprehension of significant competing interests, coupled with ingenuity and collaboration to balance the need of access to clean water and power, preservation of ecosystems and habitats encompassing food chains (fisheries), as well as ensuring food security through protection of farms and farming. These issues also encompass mitigation of damages caused by dams which also prevent flooding. These balancing acts have engaged a myriad of local, state, national and international government entities and agencies, utilities and private companies along with indigenous tribes and everyday citizens often including Canada and the US, regarding recommitment to and reformulation of various treaties including the Columbia River Treaty.
Another set of key issues to be resolved includes how advances in Science, Technology and Innovation impact economic, social and sustainable development. In this regard,Model UN students/ delegates will consider High-level Dialogues on Financing for Development (HLPF) and the vital work of UN DESA.
Additional topics which will be explored, while not necessarily the precise focus of UN DESA at the HLPF, will be the "Future of Work" in an "AI World." Another focus will be Curing Disease through Bioengineering and Genetics with advances such as CRISPR and CAR-T with significant considerations of moral and ethical issues, as well as access to such treatments for people from all economic classifications.
One more entirely different, yet forward thinking issue, will be recommendations and resolutions regarding the potential disastrous likelihood of advanced weaponization of space and its impact on commercialization and colonization of space. In October 2018, the General Assembly First Committee Delegates explored ways to build a new order for preventing celestial conflict and confrontation. UNODA, United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs, is also vital in considering how to effectively address these issues.
While broad issues such as sustainability, economic and social development considered by organizations such as one of the United Nations six (6) principal organs, the United Nations Economic and Social Council, are certainly vital, the core elements of such regarding space are significant. In this regard, rather than tackling such a diverse set of issues centered on disarmament and prevention of weaponization in a narrow and deep vertical context, which would also encompasses the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council, delegates will learn about UNOOSA (United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs) which works to promote international cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of space, as well as other entities.
DELEGATES ASSIGNMENTS, OBJECTIVES AND OPPORTUNITIES:
In view of the above background, and other documents to be prepared by the Secretariat, delegates will be focused on drafting resolutions which highlight how youth from a broad cross-section of backgrounds, cultures, economic differences, and global perspectives can successfully enable a more equitable and sustainable future for all people, citizens and their relevant societies.
General Assembly Committee, various UN Council(s), the ILO and other entities, along with country matrix's will be assigned in the next few weeks.
The main objective will be education of delegates about the different issues facing the UN, the functions of various organs of the UN in enhancing the prospects of peace including through economic and social development leading to enhanced security, equality and resulting prosperity. Moreover, delegates may also be afforded the opportunity to advance and submit resolutions and recommendations achieved through the consensus approach for further consideration by actual UN representatives.

CERTIFICATES of Participation which Also Meet High School Service Hour Requirements
DXCIMUN will be driven by an informed cohort of delegates who will have the opportunity to work together during the XGENS, XGENS.org, High School and Collegiate Programs and Model United Nations Academies to be held in July-August, 2024. During this phase of programming, expert faculty will explore the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals in the context of fields related to their foundational principles.
XGENS’ hosts a specifically designed program to be announced late December 2024 as part of an informative component of the Innovation Academy. Future Ambassadors will develop their critical thinking skills, empathy in context and problem solving through analysis of a significant U.N. crisis addressing a pending global challenge which will have enormous environmental consequences. Resolution of such crisis will require refining analytical and research skills, development of writing and advocacy talents, and the ability to temper the desire to win by achieving consensus through cooperation.
Delegates will study relevant topics in the fields of STEM + ARTS + HUMANITIES + KINESTHETICS and their impact on economic and social development from both a historical and current day event perspective integrated with certain futuristic projections. Delegates will learn from seasoned university faculty, industry and government experts, along with Model UN professionals, who will be present in person and through Skype, how youth of today can have a significant impact on ensuring a brighter future of abundance for all. Together, we will explore how to ensure that the world's population has access to clean water for drinking and sanitation purposes; safe, healthy and secure food supplies to ensure proper nutrition; advanced affordable education and training for people to secure present day and future job opportunities; necessary healthcare; and improved opportunities for the future of meaningful and dignified work for all countries' workers in an exponentially evolving technological world.
Delegates will also have fun relaxing in the literary worlds of fandoms including Harry Potter where a competitive game of Quidditch, a quest or two, some theatrical combat and martial arts will add some fun and down time. DIGIVATIONS XGENS' NASA award winning affiliate, DIGIVATIONS CAMP DEMIGOD INSTITUTE's Overnight Innovation & Literary Camp's Founders (campdemigod.org and harrypottercamps.org), Drs. Steve and Anne Deane Berman & son, Jacob Berman, along with their faculty and counselors will facilitate a positive experience.
XGENS INTEGRATES THE CONSENSUS DRIVEN APPROACH - July -August 2024
XGENS' DXCIMUN focuses on the consensus driven UN methodology making simulations more diplomatic and cordial rather than purely competitive. This results in more collaborative resolutions and recommendations to challenges facing our diverse yet highly interdependent societies. This methodology is especially vital during this fractious time which requires a call to action for all of the World's citizens to work towards successfully acknowledging and understanding the foundations of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG'S). Through understanding the SDG's, delegates will be able to architect and implement viable and scalable local, regional, national and international solutions which will be driven by the collaborative resolutions and recommendations attained through consensus.
