HISTORY:
DIGIVATIONS™ XGENS was launched as the next generation of NASA award winning DIGIVATIONS STEM+ARTS+HUMANITIES+KINESTHETIC interdisciplinary educational programming. DIGIVATIONS concept was founded by Dr. Steven Lee Berman at UCLA in 1997 to integrate the digital media community across the disciplines of arts and architecture, business, classics, education, engineering, film, television and theater, medicine, and life and physical sciences for the purposes of catalyzing innovative academic programs and research.
This effort evolved into a University of California Systemwide (10 campus and 3 National Labs) Digital Media industry-university matching grants research and academic program in the late 1990's and early 2000's. This work yielded discoveries which established the foundations and industries from the early 21st Century and beyond in fields encompassing advanced & distributive computing, alternative energy, bioengineering, commercial space exploration, genetics, intelligent infrastructure and transportation, medicine, precision agriculture, sustainability, among others.

DIGIVATIONS XGENS PHILOSOPHY:
DIGIVATIONS XGENS is based on a philosophy of one its Founders, Dr. Steven Lee Berman, which proposes that, “New cognitive generations evolve every 3 to 5 years as a result of exponential technologies, corresponding processing of information and their direct impact on brain mediation, rewiring of the connectome. The core belief is that these new generations are also younger than 25.”
The ultimate impact of these new cognitive generations is an entirely different approach to learning, thinking and solving problems. It is the expectation that this immersively connected generation will establish global communities who will work together at accelerated and unprecedented rates to research, comprehend and equitably solve challenges. Harnessing these capabilities will lead to more positive outcomes underlying the issues relevant to the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
XGENS will focus on studying these outcomes which will lead to a better understanding of how we can all work together to solve societies’ greatest threats and challenges.
