REGISTRATION COMING SOON
XGENS 17 UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS INSTITUTE
The Institute will address the fundamental issues underlying each of the 17 SDG’s, and many of their 169 constituent targets.
Participants will learn “Design Thinking” processes which they will apply to hypothetical and actual development, as well as implementation of one or more solutions to their own local community challenges. This investment will serve as a core extracurricular project providing them with a competitive advantage for future college applications, internships and jobs. Participants will prepare a scalability plan enabling such solution(s) to be applied to similar challenges in other regions.
Participants will learn about the six UN organs, including UNESCO (ECOSOC) and departments, such as DESA, as well as commissions, forums and other bodies which are focused on enabling member states implementation of the SDG’s.
Among several underlying themes will be the Circular Economy and “systems value” processes involved in designing the life cycle of a product commencing from raw material extraction and extending to an unending chain of recycling into different products for diverse communities. Entrepreneurial business plans may also be studied that launched circular economy enterprises which enabled achievement of the SDG’s.
Discussions will also focus on core elements of different commissioned reports with a focus on science, technology and innovation and associated vital sustainable impacts.
Participants will also learn about UN processes and procedures including drafting resolutions using the consensus approach enabling collaboration of member states to solve fundamental societal challenges. These diverse challenges include climate change, economic development, education and literacy, preparing current generations to engage in meaningful careers and a future of valued work in the AI World, equity including eradicating hunger, poverty, gender inequality and abusive child labor practices, effective and ethical healthcare practices such as distribution of the COVD-19 vaccine, sustainable infrastructure, preserving the planet both on land and below water, and space exploration and colonization.
Participants will also develop their own interpretations of the SDG’s and targets through the arts including music, visual and theatrical skits and plays, as well as creative writing encompassing poetry and stories, and prototype models. These interpretations will enable each participant to serve as a community ambassador to promote awareness and application of the SDG’s by others.

Harry Potter Sustainable Universe (HPS) is intended for older students combining the World of Harry Potter with more engaging concepts and ideas. HPS is driven by World Building and introduces XGENS’ Academy interdisciplinary topics encompassing STEM, Advocacy, Creative and Persuasive Writing & Diplomacy. The ideas are taught, in part, through Model United Nations Fantasy Role Playing utilizing the world of Harry Potter as envisioned through collective thinking of faculty, staff and campers alike integrating immersive hands-on activities utilizing Design Thinking. HPS also explores the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals through sophisticated applications including Nanotechnology.
HPS is designed as a launch pad to enable very bright and capable students to participate in XGENS and its Model UN Academies & eventually as a delegate on XGENS’ International Model UN delegations.
Consistent with its mission to “Inspire the Next Generation of Innovators”, XGENS is announcing a new College Preparatory Sustainable Development Academy based on its NASA award winning STEM+ARTS+HUMANITIES+MOVEMENT curriculum. Consistent with new investments in intelligent infrastructure and transportation, smart cities and shelters, food security, advanced healthcare and biotechnologies, space exploration and commercial space, and meaningful careers in the world of AI, among other domains, DIGIVATIONS XGENS Academy will prepare students to acquire and apply foundational interdisciplinary knowledge solving SDG targets.
XGENS also announces a spotlight on UN Sustainable Development Goal 3, among other interrelated goals 1, 2, 8, 10, 12, 13, 16 and 17. XGENS will engage with a collaborative of international academic research centers including nanotechnology and other leading edge scientific and humanities communities which are focused on advancing healthcare technologies as well as societal innovations enabling sustainable and resilient recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic that promotes the economic, social, and environment dimensions of sustainable development. Noted technologies, among others, encompass those supporting COVID-19 vaccines, biologic and genetic therapies, as well as AI applied to drug discovery and other innovative applied and translational scientific research designed to enhance good health and well being. These academic centers and societal innovation partners generate innovative solutions to the underlying SDG targets through interdisciplinary scientific research and applied science incorporating advanced education with a focus on next generation workforce skills, effective health and public policy and critical infrastructure investment including start-ups.
Consistent with its mission to “Inspire the Next Generation of Innovators”, XGENS is focused on engaging a community of middle school through high school students, Grades 8-11, in a SDG Innovation Social Venture Impact Competition, including XGENS-NANOENVISION, and XGENS YOUTH AMBASSADOR LEADERSHIP FORUMS where applied Science, Humanities & Literacy serve as the catalysts under the direction of DIGIVATIONS. The Social Venture Competition will integrate a global stakeholder community of educators (formal and informal), business and civic leaders, and UN sanctioned NGO’s working with underserved communities which will educate, guide and inspire the students.
The underlying goals will be to assemble interdisciplinary cohort teams who work together to develop cost effective innovations which will be deployed locally as well as globally as solutions to SDG 3 and other goals targets enabling healthier living and societies.
The competition will include three phases. One phase will include a design thinking and work plan stage leading to proposals which be evaluated, and the winners will receive opportunity awards that will be used to create both theoretical and functional prototypes. The prototypes will be judged based on prospective immediate and long term societal impact, innovation and relevance to achieving the targets of SDG3 and other goals with the selected winners receiving funding for the last phase. The third phase will yield tangible inventions that NGO’s can immediately implement positively impacting individuals and communities.
Humanities will serve a pivotal role in enabling scientific literacy and effective policy decisions for all individuals to ensure that disinformation is extinguished through personal empowerment and critical thinking skills development. Factually based information dissemination through XGENS-SDG community partnerships will prove valuable.
The following UN Video and SDG Partnership Guidebook serves as inspiration to engage participants to become active in positively transforming the world one valuable action after another. Every innovative moment in life matters, and you have the power to make a vital difference in others’ lives and society.
If you require additional inspiration about the WHY, please read a brief encapsulation about the 2030 Agenda for the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and UN Secretary-General’s, António Guterres’, United Nations pronouncement. THE WHY: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was launched in 2015 to end poverty and set the world on a path of peace, prosperity and opportunity for all on a healthy planet. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) demand nothing short of a transformation of the financial, economic and political systems that govern our societies today to guarantee the human rights of all.
“Everything we do during and after this crisis [COVID-19] must be with a strong focus on building more equal, inclusive and sustainable economies and societies that are more resilient in the face of pandemics, climate change, and the many other global challenges we face.
António Guterres Secretary-General, United Nations”
